Warli Diwali

    About the Project

During the Diwali of 2010, Coca-Cola decided to celebrate the Indian way, and rope in some young people – to connect to their roots.

From the various folk art forms, the tribal art of Warli was chosen, and artist Nitin Anand Dabolkar worked through the ad campaign.

For the media unveil, we hosted a workshop for a 100 school students, and created a bottle-installation!

Artists involved : Ganpath (Warli), Om Prakash Galav (Pottery)

A ten foot high terracotta bottle was crafted by Om Prakash Galav, in the contours specified by Coca-Cola. The bottle was hand painted in Warli style by a 100 school and college students, mentored and guided by Ganpath, a tribal artist from Dahanu (Maharashtra). This installation was open to the public and press and was the official media unveil for the ad campaign.  Post this project, Om Prakash Galav shot into fame with an entry into the Limca Book of Records.
